— Jack Fritz (@JackFritzWIP) April 12, 2019"There were a lot of conversations during the offseason," Morosi said of Bumgarner. "The Phillies were one team that I was told already, has been doing due diligence looking at his starts, maybe even looking at him during Spring Training.
"They've got that one need for that lefty starter and if you're going to go all-in on one year to make a World Series run, who better to get than Madison Bumgarner?"
Bumgarner, 29, was 6-7 last season with a 3.26 ERA. Bumgarner is 0-2 this season with a 3.32 ERA in three starts (19.0 innings). He has a career 3.03 ERA with a 1.108 WHIP. Bumgarner has an accomplished resume as well, with three World Series titles, a World Series and NLCS MVP in 2014, and four all-star game appearances.
