Here is the latest on the Phillies managerial search:
Dusty Baker: Scheduled to interview with Phillies on Wednesday
Baker, 70, last managed the Washington Nationals in 2016 and 2017. He previously managed the Reds, Cubs, and Giants winning NL manager of the year in 1993, 1997, and 2000.
Buck Showalter: Expected to meet with Phillies before Baker
"If they fired Gabe, I think Buck would be the presumed leader in the clubhouse in terms of who replacing Gabe, if they make that change," Phillies reporter Todd Zolecki said on 94WIP one day before Gabe Kapler was fired.
"Joe Girardi, I think, is a similar type of a manager. But yeah, Buck, Andy MacPhail hired him to be the Orioles manager years ago. He worked with (Phillies GM) Matt (Klentak), he worked with Ned Rice the assistant GM, he has relationships with all of those guys. That would make a lot of sense."
Joe Girardi: Expected to meet with the Phillies this week
Girardi has a strong relationship with Phillies president Andy MacPhail, as both spent time with the Chicago Cubs.
Joe Maddon: Phillies, Mets, Padres and Angels are reportedly interested
Maddon, 65, is a Pennsylvania native, a three-time manager of the year. Maddon led the Cubs to a World Series title in 2016.
As for Gabe Kapler, he is expected to interview for the Chicago Cubs managerial position. Also, the San Francisco Giants are expected to interview Kapler as well.
