The Phillies have signed right-handed relief pitcher David Robertson to a two-year deal with a club option for a third worth $23 million guaranteed, first reported by Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The deal is expected to be officially announced today

BREAKING: David Robertson has agreed to a two-year deal with the Phillies that guarantees him at least $23 million. He’ll earn $10M in 2019, $11M in 2020, with a $12M club option ($2M buyout) for 2021. He’s passed a physical and the deal is complete.

Robertson, 33, was 8-3 last season with a 3.23 ERA in 69.2 innings with a 3.50 strikeout/walk ratio.

"Philly really checked off all the boxes for me," Robertson told MLB.com. "They are hungry to get back to the postseason and win. They have a great fan base, a beautiful ballpark and a special focus on charity. They've put together a great squad and I think I can bring a lot to the team in the back end of their bullpen."
The Phillies, who are still certainly after Manny Machado and Bryce Harper, were reportedly heavily involved in the bullpen market.

I'm not sure what it says about the Machado market. But sources in touch with the #Yankees & #Phillies say they're both focused heavily on the bullpen market this week.#Yankees in on Britton, Ottavino, Robertson. #Phillies also in that mix, but lots of Robertson talk there.

For the Phillies, this shouldn't affect their pursuit of Machado and Harper, as they've made it clear that they're willing to spend "stupid money."

Now, of course, the #Phillies will be focused on Bryce Harper/Manny Machado. Rival teams believe the Phillies will make the highest offer to each of the marquee free agents.
