He picked the best Sixers game of the year to attend, as Philly beat the Warriors 113-104. Hinkie's prized possession, Joel Embiid, struggled in the first half but finished the game with 26 points, 20 rebounds, and five assists. Ben Simmons, who was acquired with the No. 1 overall pick and a byproduct of Hinkie's strategy, had 26 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three steals, and a block. Both were named 2019 NBA All-Stars.
Hinkie continues to get a ton of credit, deservedly so, and support from the Sixers fans for putting together this current team led by Embiid, Simmons, and head coach Brett Brown, who Hinkie hired.
Former NFL GM and anti-process guy, Mike Lombardi, was asked about Hinkie on Friday's 94WIP Morning Show.
"Well, I mean look, you have to give him so credit," Lombardi said. "The two guys that obviously dominated that game last night, were responsible for it."
