The Sixers are interviewing Avery Johnson for a role on Brett Brown's staff, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Johnson, 54, spent the last four years as head coach at Alabama. Johnson was the head coach of the Dallas Mavericks from 2005-2008 and then the head coach of the Nets from 2010-12. Johnson was an NBA guard from 1988-2004, playing for a number of teams, including the Spurs from 1994-2001.
The Sixers lost assistant Monty Williams on May 3rd, as he became the head coach of the Phoenix Suns. Another former Sixers' assistant, Billy Lange, accepted the role as St. Joe's head coach earlier this season.
Brown was reportedly on the hot seat this postseason, but was retained after the Sixers reached Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Toronto Raptors. Brown is entering his seventh season as head coach of the Sixers, winning 52 and 51 games, respectively, in the last two.
