Ben Simmons 'plans' to make his Nets debut in Game 4 on Monday

Ben Simmons plans to make his Brooklyn Nets debut on Monday in Game 4 against the Celtics, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

It will be Simmons' first NBA game since the Sixers' semi-finals eliminating loss to the Hawks in June of 2021.

Simmons, 25, began taking contact in Nets practice for the first time on Monday.

Simmons, up until Monday, hadn't done any practicing with teammates since being acquired in the James Harden trade back in February, as he injured his back while doing reconditioning work. He hasn't played since last year's playoffs with the 76ers.

Per Adrian Wojnarowski, game three hasn't been "fully ruled out" for Simmons to make his arrival, but it would take a lot for that to happen. Previous reports from before the series began said that Simmons hoped to be back between games four and six of this first-round series with Boston.

The Celtics currently lead the series 2-0 after a comeback victory over the Nets on Wednesday night, where Kevin Durant (4-17 FG) and Kyrie Irving (4-13 FG) both struggled mightily, especially down the stretch as KD specifically finished 0-10 with four turnovers in the second half.
