Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey called the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns regarding LeBron James and Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal ahead of last week's NBA trade deadline, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Woj reports Lakers GM Rob Pelinka asked if Joel Embiid was available, ending Morey's talks on LeBron James.
The Suns also, obviously, were not willing to trade one of their big three.
Nevertheless, if true, the report shows the type of player Morey is targeting to add to the All-Star duo of Tyrese Maxey and Embiid.
Embiid, 29, was having his best career season following his 2022-23 MVP campaign, averaging 35.3 points per game. However, Embiid had a procedure on his left meniscus and is out indefinitely, although Philadelphia hopes to have him back this season.
