Doc Rivers says Ben Simmons was 'special' in Game 1

In terms of entertainment for Twitter and sports talk radio, this was the ultimate Ben Simmons game.

The good: 15 assists (one shy of tying the franchise record in a playoff game), 15 rebounds, just 2 turnovers, 38 minutes played, and disruptive defense on Bradley Beal, the NBA's second-leading scorer in a 125-118 Game 1 win.

The bad: 3-9 FG, a bricked three, and 0-6 from the line. Some even casting blame on Simmons for when Joel Embiid dribbled the ball off of his own foot, late in the game.

Sixers head coach Doc Rivers praised Simmons after the game for his performance, calling him a "treasure."

"It's funny, like I thought he was special tonight. Whoever he guarded struggled scoring. He created so many points for us tonight—off the glass to three, off transition to three, creating switches that they didn't want to have.

"I mean he's a treasure. He's something that you don't see a lot in this league, and he has such a skill set that is so different. There's a lot of people that can't make what of him. All I see is greatness in him, and I just want him to keep doing what he's doing."

The 94WIP Morning Show asked if they thought Simmons had a good game in a Twitter poll on Monday morning, and 30-percent of fans said no.

Game 2 between the 76ers and Wizards is Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center at 7pm.
