WFAN's Evan Roberts rips 'dopey' 76ers fans for cheering free chicken during playoff game

Some of the loudest cheers at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night was when Caleb Martin missed two free throws to clinch free chicken for the 76ers fans in attendance.

Coincidentally, Philly woke up after the missed foul shots, and the Sixers came back to beat the Heat and clinch a first-round date with the Knicks starting Saturday night.

Ahead of the Knicks/76ers clash, Evan ripped Philly fans for going nuts over the potential of free chicken while a playoff game was being played.

“All of a sudden, the dopes in Philadelphia get so excited for free chicken…we would never, in a Knick playoff game - the Knick fan would never celebrate a missed free throw to get free chicken in the middle of a playoff game!” Evan said. “When I heard those dopes, those stupid, stupid dopes from that city called Filthadelphia, I said to myself, ‘Am I really gonna spend the next two weeks rooting for this?’”

Morash countered that New York fans absolutely would get louder with the prospect of free chicken in the balance, but Evan said that was insulting to New York fans, and despite his dislike of the Knicks, he is convinced that fans at MSG would never do that during the heat of a postseason game.

“They needed to cheer for free chicken? We are not those people,” Evan said. “New Yorkers would never do that.”
