Joel Embiid was originally in the 76ers starting lineup for Saturday afternoon's game against the Bucks, but he was taken out shortly before tipoff.
Embiid, who was questionable heading into Saturday, was ruled out with right shoulder soreness, missing what would have been his 10th straight game. He had been averaging 30.8 points and 10.2 rebounds during that span, leading the offense as Philadelphia looks to claim the top seed in the East as the regular season winds down.
Embiid, an MVP candidate this season, worked out on the floor prior to the game before being taken out of the lineup. He joins Ben Simmons, who is out with a non-COVID illness, as key players for the Sixers who aren't available in a crucial matchup with Milwaukee, which is close behind Philly for the second seed in the conference.
The 76ers are on a three-game losing skid.
