The 76ers will likely not have their MVP for their series opener against the Celtics.
Head coach Doc Rivers told reporters on Saturday that Joel Embiid is doubtful for game one in Boston due to the knee sprain that kept him out of Philly's game four clinching win over the Nets in the first round. After that win last weekend, Rivers told reporters that Embiid was "maybe 50 percent."
Embiid, nursing an LCL sprain in his right knee, and is expected to be wearing a knee brace whenever he is able to make his return.
This will be the third straight season in which an Embiid injury hangs over the Sixers' playoff chances, and without him, they will have a very hard time getting past Boston.
Per Rivers, Embiid did not do any work on Saturday.
