Nikola Jokic was named the NBA MVP on Tuesday night. Joel Embiid came second in the voting, but had just one first-place vote.
After the Sixers' Game 2 victory over the Hawks to even the second-round series at one game a piece, Embiid was asked about not winning the MVP.
"I'm focused on the playoffs," Embiid told reporters. "I'm focused on winning the championship. Like I've been saying all season, we've got a good chance. So I'm not worried about those awards and stuff. If and when I'm holding that [championship] trophy anything else won't matter."
Embiid, who is playing through a "small lateral meniscus tear" scored 40 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in 35 minutes in a 118-102 Philadelphia win on Tuesday.
The series now heads to Atlanta for Game 3 on Friday night.
