DeCamara, Ritchie debate: Will Embiid be right for the playoffs?

Joel Embiid will undergo a procedure on his left meniscus tear and will miss an extended period of time. Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie debated if this was good or bad news on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show.

"This is the right move," Ritchie said. "This is certainly the move that I would Joel and the Sixers would take. This is the, 'Hey, I'm committed to this season, I'm all-in guys.' This is not something that we, as fans, should take lightly.

"This is a commitment from Joel and from the Sixers that this season really does matter. He's going all-in by having this surgery for this season. If Joel is having this surgery, it is quite possible that Daryl Morey is going to go move and find a way to bring Kyle Lowry in...Or make multiple moves that give us the chances we need to win a world championship this year. Joel is in, Daryl Morey is going to be in also."

DeCamara disagreed.

"I don't feel good," DeCamara replied. "The whole freakin' thing is bad news. The whole thing. Alright? I'm a Philadelphia sports fan, 45-years-old. I've been waiting to see the Sixers do something meaningful for years and the guy is hurt again. He's always hurt.

"Do you think he's actually going to be right for the postseason? Because I don't."

"Yes, I think he can actually be right for the playoffs," Ritchie said. "They can time this up so he's physically, perfectly prepared."

A more precise timeline for how long Embiid will be out for be determined after his have the procedure in the coming days, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Embiid, 29, was having his best regular season ever coming off of his first Most Valuable Player award averaging a career-high 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.
