Joel Embiid just cemented himself as the 2022-23 NBA Most Valuable Player, barring something unforeseen.
Facing the Boston Celtics on national TV in his final big matchup of the regular season, Embiid dropped 52 points (20-25 FG), 13 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks tying Wilt Chamberlain (!!) as only the second player in NBA History to have a game like that.
Embiid was the favorite to win this year's Most Valuable Player Award before the game, but after the game and into this morning the odds have shifted drastically indicating the race is likely over.
After the game, a two-point Sixers win, Philadelphia head coach Doc Rivers said the MVP race is over.
National NBA media members praised Embiid on Twitter after the performance.
As a Process supporter and Joel Embiid fan, it feels great to see the big man have his day in the sun. He deserves this. He's earned this.
