Joel Embiid told Yahoo Sports that he believes Sixers fans want him traded.
While it's certainly hard to understand the context here, if Embiid was trolling or how serious he was, but it's not like the conversation hasn't been brought up this season.
Most fans do not want the team to trade their annual MVP candidate, but the Sixers are approaching a bit of a crossroads and Daryl Morey will have some tough decisions to make about the future.
After a slow start and some injuries to Embiid and James Harden, the Sixers have regained their mojo and find themselves at 15-12.
Embiid, 28, is playing some of the best basketball of his life, averaging a career-high 33.3 points on 53.8-percent shooting, also a career-best, forcing himself into the MVP conversation once again. He is in the midst of a historic stretch of basketball.
Embiid is under contract with Philadelphia through the 2026-27 season, and it is extremely unlikely the franchise would trade him.
