94WIP's Joe DeCamara began the 94WIP Midday Show interview with TNT NBA analyst Kenny Smith, explaining how Sixers fans feel today after the team's embarrassing Game 2 blowout loss to the Celtics.
"Today is the lowest point that we, as Sixers fans in Philly, feel," DeCamara explained. "The Process to me is dead. There is nothing they can do. They made the wrong moves, the wrong contract, the wrong decision makers and to me I see no path to really get them to championship contending form in future years."
Smith, however, provided some optimism.
"I would disagree in this part," Smith said on Thursday. "I think that the right moves have been made, and now the subtle moves have to be made...There's not one thing that you do that makes you a champion, there's multiple things.
"There are some small details that can be corrected. Because there isn't a lot of Ben Simmons' or Joel Embiid's walking around the NBA. There are a few. So, to have one or two of those kind of guys -- there's just some subtleties [that need to be corrected], but the subtleties become big."
Jon Ritchie asked Smith a simple question: Can they with a championship with Ben Simmons at point guard?
"Oh without question," Smith said. "He's an anomaly. There's nothing like him. There's nothing comparable, other than LeBron. You have to let that kind of move out somewhat, you have to give that guy type of freedom."
Many Sixers fans are frustrated with 34-year-old Al Horford, who was signed as a free-agent to a four-year deal worth $109 million before the season.
"I think over the hill might be a little bit of a stretch," Smith told DeCamara. "Al Horford was brought in more for the insurance factor and then you also play in this role, and he knows that at this stage of his career. I don't think anybody thought he was going to be the Al Horford that was going to make All-Star teams."
