Monty Williams credits Brett Brown for the final play that led to the game winner

It's been a good week for Brett Brown's basketball reputation, and he hasn't even done anything.

Last night, the Phoenix Suns beat the Los Angeles Clippers by one point to take a 2-0 series lead in the Western Conference Finals, and current Suns head coach Monty Williams—former 2018-2019 Sixers assistant under Brett Brown—gave credit to his old coach for the play that created the game winning dunk for Deandre Ayton.

"It's pretty much a combination of something that Brett Brown used to run and [former Suns assistant coach] Joe Punty ran a play when he was here with the Suns, and Tyson Chandler got a slap in," Williams said in his postgame press conference.

Earlier in the week, the Sixers blew two massive leads in back-to-back games in their semi-finals series against the Hawks, eventually losing Game 7. Current Sixers head coach Doc Rivers has received harsh criticism, for yet another blown playoff series and early exit.

Brown was often criticized late in his tenure as Sixers head coach by the fans and media, and took heat for the Sixers' early playoff exits in 2018-19 and 2019-20. Now, it seems like some people are realizing the grass isn't always greener.
