He specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery and continues to be recognized as a South Jersey TOP DOC for 2020 and 2021.
Dr. Schwartz discussed Joel Embiid's "small lateral meniscus tear" on Thursday's 94WIP Morning Show.
"A small tear can mean almost anything," Dr. Schwartz said. "It lends me to think that this may be a Grade 1 signal...maybe structurally isn't a large enough tear that needs immediate surgery.
"If it's a real tear, two weeks is not going to do anything. If it's a small irritation or a mild Grade 1 type signal, it's possible that the symptoms will quiet down, but you run the risk of converting a very small tear to a larger tear depending on if he plays on it or not. If this was not the playoffs, I don't think they're be any discussing about him playing again."
