Philadelphia was ranked as the 4th best basketball city in the country for 2021, according to a study done by Wallethub.com.
The study divided the cities into two categories, NBA and NCAA, evaluating each category by city using 21 different metrics which include things like number of teams, number of championships, franchise value, performance level, fan engagement and more.
Philadelphia ranked 11th in NBA and 4th in NCAA, netting out at 4th overall behind Salt Lake City, Boston, and Los Angeles.
Interestingly, Philadelphia ranked among the least engaged NBA fans, which seems like a suspect ranking considering the 76ers have the best home record in the NBA since 2017 and finished first in attendance in 2020 and 2019, pre COVID-19.
"I love being a part of Philadelphia basketball, I really do," Jay Wright said Tuesday on the 94WIP Morning Show, when discussing his Hall Of Fame induction. "It's a great tradition across this country. There's no city that's got the pride and the tradition in college basketball that Philadelphia has. It's really cool to be a part of it and I appreciate it."
The 76ers begin their postseason run on Sunday at the Wells Fargo Center, where capacity has been increased to 50-percent for round one.
