The Philadelphia 76ers may be on the cusp of advancing the Eastern Conference, but all eyes are now on the health of Joel Embiid.
The Sixers big man left Monday’s Game 4 against the Wizards after taking a hard fall in the first half. He appeared to have hurt his back, but halftime, with the Sixers leading 61-60, Embiid was officially ruled out for the remainder of the game with right knee soreness, according to the team.
Embiid exited with eight points, six rebounds and two assists in 11 minutes.
Embiid has been the MVP of the team this season and has continued to be a monster for the Sixers early in the postseason, averaging 29.3 points per game.
In Game 3, he set a playoff career-high with 36 points in addition to his eight rebounds, three steals and two assists en route to a 132-103 rout.
It could be a matter of precaution for the Sixers, who entered the game up 3-0 and a chance to complete the sweep. But with Embiid’s injury history, it is always a cause for concern if he is unable to be on the court.
