The Minnesota Timberwolves' new director of basketball operations Sachin Gupta has the green light to go get Ben Simmons and he's trying his hardest to acquire the 76ers' all-star point guard, according to Minnesota reporter Darren Wolfson via ahnfiredigital.com.

“(Gupta) is going to work his a– off to try to acquire Ben Simmons and he has full authority to do so,” Wolfson said on a new episode of The Scoop with Doogie. “Glen Taylor, Marc Lore, Alex Rodriguez. … Trust me, they’ve given him the green light.”

Just a couple of days ago, The Athletic reported the Twolves "are in the middle of trying to make a play for Simmons." Also, on Wednesday, Minnesota fired head of basketball operations Gersson Rosas.

The sense is D'Angelo Russell would be included in a deal for Simmons, pairing him with fellow 25-year-old multi-time All-Star and former No. 1 overall pick in Karl-Anthony Towns.
