ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski says Joel Embiid is this year's Most Valuable Player in the NBA, but it's close, and Nikola Jokic is making a legitimate case late.

"I think Nikola Jokic has really been closing the gap on him," Woj said on Thursday's 94WIP Morning Show. "I think Joel Embiid is the MVP right now, but Denver has won 12 of 14, they've won four straight, they hope to get Michael Porter [Jr.] back here. That was the one thing you had on Jokic, was, well they're not winning as much. And all of the sudden this team is on this run, they're getting closer to top five, top four in the West.

"But I think what Joel Embiid has done from start to finish. The arrival of [James] Harden has done nothing I think, but accentuate, what Joel is doing. I do think Joel gets it, but I think it's close."

Embiid is averaging 29.7 points per game this season, tied for the most in the NBA with Giannis Antetokounmpo, to go along with 11.2 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and a 31.62 player efficiency rating (3rd in the NBA).

Jokic, who won the MVP last season (Embiid was runner up), is averaging 26.1 points, 13.9 rebounds (2nd), 8.1 assists (7th), and has a 32.73 player efficiency rating (1st).

The Sixers are 40-24, third in the East, while the Nuggets are 40-26, tied for fifth in the West.
