Dallas Cowboys owner and GM Jerry Jones was as fired up as ever when visiting with Shan & RJ on Tuesday morning on 105.3 The Fan as his team enters the bye week at 3-3 following a blowout loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.
At times, Jones became irked by the questioning from the hosts, who sought answers as to why he didn't make more moves this offseason to improve the team.
"This is not your job. Your job isn't to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I'm sorry that I did it. That's not your job. I'll get somebody else to ask these questions. I'm not kidding," Jones said. "You're not going to figure it out what the team is doing right or wrong. If you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this (NFL) meeting I'm going to today with 32 teams here, you're geniuses. "You really think you're gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I've done wrong without going over the rights?"
The Cowboys lost their fourth straight game at AT&T Stadium on Sunday, a 47-9 shellacking at the hands of the Lions - the largest margin of defeat in a home game under Jones' ownership.
For most of the interview, Jones was not accountable for his team's on-field struggles, dodging questions about why the team didn't spend more after saying in the offseason that he was "All-in" this season.
At one point toward the end of the interview, Jones made a point to address the fans listening to the interview and apologized for how poorly his team played against the Lions.
"Listen, we both know we're talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners. And I'm very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I'm sick about what happened Sunday."
