A.J. Brown went off on X, defending himself against him and Jalen Hurts playing what one fan referred to as, "buddy ball."
An account on X called "Lord Brunson tweets" posted a video of Hurts ignoring an open DeVonta Smith on an underneath route to target Brown, his best friend, deep.
"This s**t burns me up because this that buddy ball s**t... it's ok for AJ to be a decoy on this play. Taking the easy completion clearly isn't pounded into the philosophy of this offense," the account later wrote, adding to the original video.
Brown responded on X saying, "Yall fans swear yall know everything. It's a shot play to me .i'm the 1st read . He Just missed the throw. of course we could've threw it 6 because it didn't work but when the s**t works everyone is happy. Quit all that buddy ball s**t. I am decoys on many plays."
The Eagles suffered their third consecutive loss on Monday night, 20-17 in Seattle against the Seahawks, falling to 10-4 on the season.
Brown was off to a historic start in 2023, recording 125-plus receiving yards in six straight games from Week 3 to Week 8. However, over the last six games, Brown has just two total touchdowns and has recorded north of 90 receiving yards in just two of those six games.
For the season, Brown has a career-high 95 catches on 141 targets for 1,314 yards and seven touchdowns with three games to go.
