The Eagles' offense was almost invisible for the first half of Sunday's game against New Orleans – and then exploded late in the third quarter for their biggest play of the 2022 season, which took until 2023 to get.
On a second-and-four from their own 22, Gardner Minshew II unloaded a deep shot for A.J. Brown, who made the grab after passing his defender and then outraced a handful of Saints to the end zone for the Birds' longest play of 2022:
It came at a huge time, too, as it lowered the Birds' deficit to 13-10 in a game where the defense has kept them in the hunt despite the offense not gaining a first down until inside the two-minute warning of the first half.
It's the second-longest play of Brown's career, but it beat out his 68-yard catch earlier this season for the longest play of the year. And, it left him just 12 yards shy of Mike Quick's franchise record for receiving yards in a season – and gave another big play in a year where he and DeVonta Smith became the first pair of Eagles receivers to each top 1,000 yards in the same season.
