Andre Dillard to have surgery on broken forearm, to miss four-to-six weeks

Andre Dillard is reportedly set to undergo surgery on his broken forearm on Tuesday, with an expected timetable still four-to-six weeks before he is back in action for the Eagles.

The report comes from NFL insider Ian Rapaport, who Tweeted Monday that the procedure is "aimed at stability" for the forearm Dillard fractured last week in practice. He was initially believed to have a non-displaced fracture, per NFL media, but will undergo the stabilization procedure.

The former No. 22 overall pick in the 2019 Draft, Dillard has appeared in 31 games as an Eagle, but missed all of 2020 due to a torn biceps. This is the final year of Dillard's rookie deal, as the team declined his fifth-year option prior to this season.

Dillard is nominally the backup to left tackle Jordan Mailata, and could land on injured reserve if he expected to miss at least four weeks.

Without Dillard, the Eagles have Jack Driscoll as the top backup tackle, and undrafted rookie guard Josh Sills had limited experience at both tackle spots at Oklahoma State. The team also has Le'Raven Clark, who has played in 51 games over five NFL seasons, and second-year guard/tackle Kayode Owasika, who played one game for the Birds last year, on the practice squad.
