Some good news for the Philadelphia Eagles and the fan base, as Indianapolis Colts QB Carson Wentz is now "trending" toward being ready for the Week 1 regular season opener, according to Chris Mortensen.
This is good for news for the Eagles because Philadelphia's conditional second-round pick in 2022 they received from Indianapolis in the Wentz trade could improve to a first rounder if Wentz plays 75-plus percent of Indy’s offensive snaps this season—or if he plays 70-plus percent and the Colts make the playoffs.
Wentz was originally diagnosed with an odd 5-12 week timeline to repair a foot injury that could have dated as far back as to high school. Over time the bone reportedly came loose and caused pain, forcing surgery, which was a clear cut decision.
The Colts open the season on Sunday, September 12th at 1pm E.T. at home against the Seattle Seahawks.
