Cowboys LB Leighton Vander Esch ruled out with neck injury

Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Jaguars due to a neck injury. Vander Esch was was initially questionable to return after he exited in the first quarter.

Vander Esch had neck surgery in Dec. 2019 after being diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis. The injury limited him to just nine games during the 2019 season.

A broken collarbone and an ankle injury limited Vander Esch to ten games in 2020, but he has been very healthy as of late, appearing in all 17 games last season and all 13 games so far in 2022.

Vander Esch, the Cowboys' 2018 first-round pick, signed a one-year deal with Dallas in the offseason after his rookie contract expired. Entering Sunday's game, he had 90 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack.
