Dallas Cowboys legendary running back Emmitt Smith was asked if his former team has closed the gap on the Philadelphia Eagles and his answer will put a smile on the face of Eagles fans.
"This is why when you look at the Eagles and say everything they've done this year—they should be better," Smith told CBSSports. "They should be even better than last year, and if that's the case everybody should be on the lookout."
Smith also praised Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni specifically.
"They were solid last year," Smith said. "That's a tribute to the head coach and the leadership of the Eagles football player who understand the priorities, the mission and being committed to the mission. They eliminated anything that could hinder that mission. That's great leadership."
The Eagles finished 14-3 last season, while the Cowboys finished 12-5. The two teams split their two games against each other last season.
