Deebo Samuel apparently has decided he no longer wants to talk about the Eagles.

The 49ers’ loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship game has remained an occasional talking point throughout the offseason. San Francisco lost both Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson in the blowout loss, and 49ers players – including Samuel – have said they would have won if they stayed healthy.

The Eagles and 49ers will see each other again this season in Week 13, so there undoubtedly will be questions players from both teams will have to answer about that conference title game. Samuel was asked about his comments on CBS Sports Radio’s The Zach Gelb Show, and things unraveled quickly.

Gelb: "I saw (what) you said about the Eagles back at the Super Bowl at Sirius where if Brock Purdy didn’t get hurt you guys would have won that game by double digits, why would that have been the case?"

Samuel: "I don’t know, that’s old."

Gelb: "So do you not still believe that?"

Samuel: "I mean I do, but I mean that s–t we’re not going to keep talking about it. I said what I said."

Gelb: "Got you, so then what happens this year when you play Philly on Dec. 3?"

Samuel: "I don’t know, just wait until what, Week 13, 12 whatever week it is. We’ll show you."

At that point, Gelb began asking Samuel what his message would be to Eagles fans knowing how he will be received in Philadelphia. As that was happening, Samuel could be heard calling for someone, and a PR rep soon jumped in and said “Hey guys, alright, we’re good to go.” She said they were going to "go into camp," and then the call ended.

Gelb said they were told they’d have 15 minutes with Samuel, but it only ended up being about five minutes.

Clearly, Samuel wants to move on. But if you make a declaration as big as he did, it should be little surprise he’ll get asked about it.
