Many experts, pundits, fans, and analysts are high on the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles. That's one thing. But when an analytics website picks you to be tied for the NFL lead in regular season, that's a little bit more eyebrow raising than someone's pick.
Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders—a respected advanced football stats and analysis website that has made popular the metric DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average)—has the Eagles and Buffalo Bills tied as the projected leaders in regular season wins this season with 10.6.
As we look around the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys are 8th with 9.6 projected wins and then Washington and the New York Giants are 25th and dead last, with 7.5 and 6.2 project wins, respectively.
The Eagles being projected to win as many games as the Bills—who just slaughtered the defending champion Rams last night 31-10—is certainly interesting. The second highest win total projection for an NFC team is the Tampa Bay Bucs at 9.9.
The Eagles open their regular season slate on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. E.T. in Detroit against the improved Lions. Philadelphia is four point road favorites.
