Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson made the decision on Tuesday to start rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts over Carson Wentz in Sunday's game against the Saints.
11-year Eagles DE Brandon Graham discussed the decision on Wednesday's 94WIP Morning Show, saying he "understands."
"I understand," Graham said of the Eagles' decision to go with Hurts. "I understand the business side, I understand that's the situation that somebody is in right now. All I can do is encourage and make sure that people don't, you know just not keep the positives because you never know what could come about this. Just gotta go with it."
Graham agrees with Pederson that Hurts provided a spark for the team in last Sunday's loss to the Packers.
"I felt when he got out there, everybody was excited to see him, I can say that—excited to see what he can do too," Graham said. "Coach did hit that on because it did spark something because we run back a punt return. It was just good timing for Jalen."
The 32-year-old veteran defensive end also says that Hurts provides some new challenges for opposing defenses.
"He brings that running threat and it's hard to kind of contain that and you gotta get out of your defense a little bit—sometimes you do, sometimes you don't, just depends on how you put it together. He definitely has to get looked at a different way than Carson."
