DeCamara: 'Biggest headline is Eagles' defense looked remarkably shaky'

The Eagles are 4-0, but they just barely beat the Washington Commanders on Sunday at the Linc, needing overtime to do so.

Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie went through both their positive and negative feelings on the team after Sunday's win.

"I thought the biggest headline from yesterday is the defense looked remarkably shaky," Joe DeCamara said on Monday's 94WIP Morning Show.

The Eagles allowed 365 total yards and 26 first downs to Sam Howell and the Commanders' offense on Sunday, allowing them to mount a comeback to force overtime.

"This is an all-time, 'yeah, but' win.' And let me be very clear, I think I skew much more on the positive than the negative, at least what I've heard of a lot of callers here on WIP.

"I don't feel the negativity to the same extent as a lot of people do about yesterday's game, how it went down and how the Eagles prevailed in close fashion. Let me clear, I'm not thrilled about the game. But I am happy the Eagles are 4-0. I think it's extremely noteworthy that Jalen Hurts played, I thought, by far his best game of the season...A.J. Brown was the best Eagles player out there yesterday and I don't even think it was close. Jake Elliott is remarkably money, that guy is money, he was won games for the Eagles and he did it again for the Eagles yesterday.

"Look, it was way too close against a not very good football team. You can make the case, all four teams the Eagles have beaten are probably below average teams. I certainly don't think any of them are good...I will give Washington credit, I thought they played a pretty damn strong game.

"Now, let's get to the Eagles' defense. It was the worst part of the Eagles' team yesterday. The defense stunk. The defense freakin' stunk. And we're going to have to figure out why. Like, who's freakin' fault was it? Sam Howell? Now I'll give that guy credit. He is clearly better than I knew of and expected him to be yesterday. That is a real part of this. He was making plays, he was a playmaker yesterday."

"One more thing I'll say, Eagles did get very lucky Ron Rivera did not go for two."

Jon Ritchie's biggest concern is the Eagles' coaching staff.

"This is a gross feeling for me," Ritchie admitted. "I am officially concerned about the coaches. Are we truly good? I don't think we're truly good, not yet. Every game is a puzzle, every play is a puzzle. And unfortunately, it feels like our coaches are often the doofus kid in your elementary class who lost three of the puzzle pieces because he ate one of them."
