Doug Pederson admitted on Monday morning that he felt the Eagles should have won Sunday's game in Pittsburgh against the Steelers.
"I was disappointed," Pederson told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show when asked about his feelings during his postgame press conference on Sunday.
"We had a chance to win that football game against a really good team. We took an injured, kind of a wounded dog kind of a team, with young skill guys and injuries up front and we missed some guys on defense. We went over there and should have won the game. That's how I felt. That was my reaction after the game. The players felt that in the locker room, that we should have won that football game against a really good opponent. The Steelers were healthy, they're good on defense, they're good on offense and yet we had a chance to win that game and pull it out on the end."
The bad news is the Eagles fell to 1-3-1 with the loss, but the good news is the offense looked pretty good and Carson Wentz is playing better.
"He's really seeing the field better," Pederson said of Wentz. "I think, really, the practice the last couple of weeks with some of the new guys. You look at Travis Fulgham and the game he had two weeks in a row and Greg Ward, and (John) Hightower. Quez Watkins got a chance to play. He's getting comfortable with these guys each week and they're working extremely hard in practice and it's showing up in games and he's done a really good job of seeing the field a little bit better and we just gotta build on that."
Wentz completed 20 of 35 passes for 258 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 INTs. 10 of his 20 completions and 152 of the 258 yards went to Travis Fulgham, who is emerging as a viable weapon for the Eagles.
Things don't get easier for Philadelphia, as they'll face Lamar Jackson and the 4-1 Baltimore Ravens Sunday at 1pm at the Linc.
