Eliot Shorr-Parks continues to defend former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, calling him the "scapegoat" for the Super Bowl loss.
Joe Giglio says the way Jonathan Gannon left the Eagles (which was ruled tampering) combined with the new Athletic story where he reveals a private conversation with Nick Sirianni, has launched Gannon into the elite tier of top villains in Philadelphia sports with the likes of Chip Kelly and Ben Simmons.
Filling in for Hugh Douglas, Eliot Shorr-Parks disagreed with Giglio, and the Philadelphia fan base for that matter, on Thursday's 94WIP Midday Show.
"It is absurd that fans hate this guy. I do not get it," Shorr-Parks said. "Like, what has he done? What has he really done to make him on the list of those villains. Chip Kelly tore down the Eagles. Ben Simmons didn't play for the team for a year...All Gannon did was lead one of the best defenses in franchise history. Yes, he left for a job. All coaches leave for a job.
Was it handled the best way? No. But I don't think anybody can genuinely say in their heart of hearts that he coached poor in that game because of what was happening in Arizona. I think Gannon has become a scapegoat for like fans being upset that they lost the game...It was not on Gannon."
The 94WIP Midday Show posted a few polls on this topic.
Gannon is now the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, a team that is expected to finish with the worst record in the NFL.
