Eagles Final 53-Man Roster Prediction (Plus Practice Squad)

Preseason is officially over after the Eagles loss to the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night.

Now it is time for final cuts.

The Eagles have until Tuesday at 4 p.m. to cut their roster down to 53 players, meaning their will be plenty of cuts and likely some trades between now and the deadline.

Who will be going and who will be staying?

Here is my final 53-man roster prediction plus the 16-man practice squad:

Quarterback (2): Jalen Hurts, Gardner Minshew
Keeping three quarterbacks is likely tempting for the Quarterback Factory, but there is too much talent at other positions on this roster to hold three quarterbacks on the team all year. The Eagles will pick up a quarterback after final cuts for the practice squad.

Running Back (3): Miles Sanders, Kenny Gainwell, Boston Scott
It is possible the team makes a move at this position but it would be very surprising if Sanders, Gainwell or Scott weren’t on the roster — and it would be surprising if Jason Huntley or Kennedy Brooks were.

Wide Receiver (5): AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Quez Watkins, Zach Pascal, Jalen Reagor
The Eagles are certainly open to trading Reagor. If they don’t get an offer they like, however, giving him one more chance — and using him as the punt returner — is the path they’ll take over cutting him.

Tight End (3): Dallas Goedert, Jack Stoll, Grant Calcaterra
Noah Togiai has played well enough to earn a roster spot, but the Eagles won’t be cutting Still or Calcaterra and they won’t be keeping four tight ends. Togiai might not make it through waivers, however, so if they release him he could be gone.

Offensive Line (10): Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Jason Kelce, Isaac Seumalo, Lane Johnson, Andre Dillard, Cam Jurgens, Jack Driscoll, Sua Opeta, Jack Anderson
The Eagles are very deep at offensive line and it’s been the backbone of their team the last few seasons. They could go very heavy here, keep Kayode Awosika and go with 11 linemen.

Defensive Line (10): Hasson Reddick, Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, Brandon Graham, Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, Derek Barnett, Jordan Davis, Marlon Tuipulotu, Tarron Jackson
The Eagles will do everything they can to keep all the defensive linemen they have any belief in. It is a position they value and they like to rotate players at, meaning defensive linemen will be given priority over other positions. A tough call is Marvin Wilson, who has had a good camp, but can likely be added to the practice squad.

Linebacker (7): Kyzir White, TJ Edwards, Davion Taylor, Nakobe Dean, Shaun Bradley, Patrick Johnson, Kyron Johnson
Rookie Kyron Johnson has had a quiet camp and doesn’t project to be active if he were to make the 53-man roster. The Eagles did trade up for him, however, so it is possible they are overly cautious and keep him to avoid waivers.

Cornerback (6): Darius Slay, James Bradberry, Avonte Maddox, Zech McPhearson, Josh Jobe, Tay Gowan
The Eagles are very thin at cornerback, something that isn’t talked about often since they have arguably the best starting trio in the NFL. Behind Slay, Bradberry and Maddox, however, the Eagles have nothing but unproven players. McPhearson will make the roster, and after him, Jobe and Gowan seem to be the two cornerbacks the Eagles like the most.

Safety (5): Marcus Epps, Anthony Harris, Andre Chachere, K’Von Wallace, Jaquiski Tartt
Like cornerback the safety position is a tough one to predict. Only Epps is a lock for playing time, with Anthony Harris likely to get the first chance next to Epps. After that? The Eagles don’t have any proven player. Tartt has had a bad camp and didn’t play well on Saturday night against Miami. UDFA safety Reed Blankenship, on the other hand, has played well enough to earn a roster spot. This will come down to if the Eagles think Blankenship makes it through waivers.

Special Teams (2): Jake Elliott, Arryn Siposs
The Eagles can cut Rick Lovato, add a player to injured reserve they don't want exposed to waivers (Jobe has an elbow injury, for example) and then bring Lovato back with that roster spot.

Practice Squad (16): Kayode Awosika, Britain Covey, Deon Cain, Josh Sills, Richard Rodgers, Reid Sinnett, Jason Huntley, Marvin Wilson, Mario Goodrich, Cameron Tom, Le’Raven Clark, Greg Ward, Josh Blackwell, Josiah Scott, Reed Blankenship, Devon Allen
