Sports Illustrated senior writer Greg Bishop, following the release of his new feature on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, says he believes Hurts has more "intention behind everything he does" than Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers.
"I've done a lot of these," Bishop told the 94WIP Morning Show on Tuesday. Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers...and to me there is more intention behind everything [Hurts] does than any of those guys. In fact, it reminded me a little bit of Tom Brady just in the fact that often when I go do these the guys want to say, 'I'm more than football. This doesn't define me, it's not the singular thing in my life.' And the two guys that really sort of said, 'No that's not true. Football does define me, it is the one thing I care about more than all of the other things combined,' are Tom Brady and Jalen Hurts."
Is Hurts interesting enough to be the face of the NFL?
"I think he's wildly interesting, but I think he's very careful about what he says," Bishop explained. "I think he's very careful about how deep into his story he goes. And one thing I would also say, in the time that I spent with me he mentioned a few times that there is still a lot—and put a lot in quotes—of his story left to be told. And I even tried to push a little deeper in some instances and I think there is still more on the table to be learned there."
