PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If the 2022 Philadelphia Eagles are going to succeed, quarterback Jalen Hurts and new top wide receiver A.J. Brown have to be a dynamic duo.
After two weeks of training camp, Brown said they are "still building" but "heading in the right direction."
Off the field, Hurts and Brown have been best friends well before the Eagles traded for Brown. Now, they have to find a way to connect on the field as teammates.
At times during camp, Hurts completed passes to Brown in 11-on-11 team drills — which is to be expected, as Brown has become the Eagles' de facto No. 1 weapon on offense. The most publicized hookup these two had came during the sole public training camp practice, where Hurts found Brown through a very tight window for a touchdown.
"I have a lot of trust in him," Brown said of Hurts. "He has trust in me. I'm sure that trust will grow when a game comes because it's different from practice and the game. Once we get in the game and I make a play for him, I think he will definitely trust me when I bail him out sometimes."
The regular-season Eagles opener is about a month away — a big season for Hurts to prove he can be the long-term quarterback going forward for this team.
