The Eagles avoided disaster, nearly got a surprise first down, and may have lost their punter all on the same play.

After the Giants’ defense forced a three and out late in the second quarter, Arryn Siposs had to punt from his own end zone, which was blocked by Elerson Smith – but Siposs scooped it up in the end zone and ran, nearly getting the first down before stepping out of bounds at the 15-yard-line:

The Giants scored a few plays later, but that wasn’t the biggest problem with the play: Siposs had to be helped off the field with a leg injury and then was carted off to the locker room, and FOX’s cameras saw kicker Jake Elliott practicing punts into a net in case Siposs is out for the game.

It was the third lower-body injury of the half for the Eagles, who lost Reed Blankenship to an ankle issue on a tackle and had Quez Watkins come out with what looked like a groin issue after a near-explosive play in the second quarter.

Siposs is also the Eagles' holder, a job that was filled by return specialist Britain Covey on the Eagles' field goal attempt (which was good) a few minutes later.
