With the Eagles firing defensive coordinator Sean Desai, the team has reportedly reached out to multiple available names to replace Desai, including one familiar with the NFC East.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Howie Roseman and Nick Sirianni have reached out to Wink Martindale, as well as former Falcons defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen. Martindale would be notable given his recent exit from the Giants, which reportedly reached a boiling point with Brian Daboll after Daboll fired close members of Martindale’s staff.
Martindale stabilized the defense in New York this season after a disastrous start, but there were rumblings of a rift between he and Daboll during the regular season, and the two sides mutually agreed to part ways once the season was over.
The Eagles defense completely imploded down the stretch of their season, ending with an embarrassing loss to Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers in the Wild Card round.
