The Eagles have agreed to sign free-agent wide receiver Michael Walker, according to an ESPN report.
Here are three things to know about the teams’ newest receiver:
*** Walker, 5-foot-11, 194 pounds, played four seasons at Boston College. Walker finished his time at Boston College with 71 catches for 847 yards in 48 games. He also ran the ball five times for 19 yards.
*** Despite his big-play ability in college, Walker has not been on the field much in the NFL, appearing in just seven games with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 after going undrafted. He did return 18 kickoffs and three punts, averaging 4.3 yards-per-return on the punts and 22.8 yards-per-return on kickoffs. Walker did not appear in a game during the 2020 season. It is possible the Eagles are interested in him as a returner, as they don’t have a clear-cut returner on the roster right now.
*** Needless to say, Walker is a long shot to make the roster. But for a team always looking for speed, and in need of a kick returner, he could have a shot to make a very wide-open receiver position.
