Report: Eagles trading Bryce Huff to 49ers for 'mid-round pick'

The Bryce Huff era in Philly is all but over, as Adam Schefter reports the Eagles are on the verge of a deal to send the edge rusher to San Francisco for a ‘mid-round pick.’

A trade cannot be processed until Sunday, June 1, due to cap concerns, but Huff recently restructured his deal to help the Eagles facilitate a better dead cap hit if he is dealt or released.

Huff, 27, signed a three-year, $51.1 million deal with Philly last offseason, coming off a breakout year with the Jets in 2024 where he notched 10 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, and 21 QB hits.

However, Huff never found his footing in Philly, appearing in just 12 games last year with 2.5 sacks, 3 TFL, and 4 QB hits – his sack total eighth on a defense that had 41 total – and he has not been part of any of the Birds voluntary OTAs this spring.

A trade to San Fran will reunite him with Robert Saleh, who was the Jets’ head coach in 2024 and re-joined the Niners in January for his second stint as their defensive coordinator.

The Eagles may still be looking to beef up their pass rush after dealing Huff; they did sign ex-Giant Azeez Ojulari and ex-Patriot Joshua Uche – the latter of whom had 11.5 sacks in 2022 – and added Antwaun Powell-Ryland in the Draft, but the losses of Milton Williams and sack leader Josh Sweat in free agency, Brandon Graham’s retirement, and now a Huff trade would take away four players who accounted for 19 of last year’s 41 sacks.
