ESP sounds off on NFL sticking Eagles with 'dumb' schedule

The Eagles’ full 2025 schedule is out, and Eliot Shorr-Parks has some strong thoughts about the layout of the Birds’ road to a repeat.

Reacting to the full slate on the latest episode of the “Go Birds” podcast, ESP sounded off on the league’s decision makers for the schedule they put together for the defending Super Bowl champions, summing it up in one word.

“It was not shocking that it was a hard schedule. Everyone knew the schedule was going to be difficult,” ESP said. “But the more I look at the schedule, I think there’s one word to describe the schedule. It’s not ‘hard,’ it’s not ‘difficult.’

“The word to describe the schedule that the NFL handed the Eagles is ‘dumb.’ It’s just not a well put together schedule. It looks like a schedule where the NFL almost forgot they had to do the Eagles schedule. They just did the primetime games and after that, were like ‘Oh man, we’ll just put this here and this here.’ It’s just not well constructed.”

The Eagles will not have consecutive home games at all during the regular season, and when looking at Super Bowl odds for each team, Philly has one of the toughest schedules in the league. ESP believes it’s a pattern, and while he still believes the Eagles will thrive, he doesn’t believe the league made it easy for them at all, and that isn’t a new feeling.

“I understand the Eagles don’t deserve preferential treatment and there’s 32 teams...but the Eagles are still the Eagles,” ESP said. “I don’t think the NFL schedule makers have done the Eagles many favors over the last few years, which is kind of crazy when you consider that they are one of the premier franchises in the league.”
