PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — If you don’t tailgate outside the Pro Shop at 4 a.m. on a Monday, are you even an Eagles fan?

The Birds haven’t even played a preseason game yet, but fans eagerly lined up outside the Linc well before dawn on Monday for the release of the highly anticipated Kelly green throwback jerseys.

They came prepared, too, with lawn chairs, music, snacks, beverages, and so on.

The line has continued to grow through the morning ahead of the 9 a.m. store opening. Michael Spina and his mother, Kim, made sure they were first — at 3:20 a.m.

“I tried to get down here as early as I could,” said Michael. “I didn’t even sleep. Excited. Need the Kelly green.”

“Need the Kelly green,” Kim reiterated. “Haven’t had it in years. Need to see that Kelly green. [Eagles owner] Jeffrey Lurie did good!”

The jerseys that are going on sale mimic the specific style of Kelly green that the Eagles wore from 1985 to 1995. Stars like Randall Cunningham, Reggie White, Jerome Brown and Seth Joyner wore them, along with head coach Buddy Ryan.

Now, fans will be able to buy the Kelly greens with the names of current stars like Jalen Hurts, Devontae Smith and others.

The Eagles will wear the throwback uniforms at some point this season, but the organization hasn’t specified when.

Doors open at Eagles Pro Shop locations at the Linc, in Lancaster, and Cherry Hill, New Jersey at 9 a.m. Fans can also purchase Kelly green shirts, sweatshirts, hats and more.
