Game-by-game predictions for rest of Eagles' season

The Eagles didn't play on Sunday, and yet still, their division lead grew.

The Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins both lost, keeping both teams at 2 wins on the season.

After the Eagles' Sunday off, the NFC East standings look like this:

1. Eagles: 3-4-1
2. Washington Football Team: 2-6
3. Dallas Cowboys: 2-7
4. New York Giants: 2-7

The lead for the Eagles in the depressing race to win the division is now 1.5 games with eight to play, three of which are against divisional opponents — including this Sunday's game against the Giants.

After a chance to get a look at most of the remaining teams on their schedule on Sunday, here is a game-by-game prediction for the rest of the season:

At New York Giants:
No game for the Eagles is an easy one, but this one projects to potentially be tougher than many think. The Eagles needed a late fourth-quarter comeback to beat the Giants at home earlier this season. Now, the Giants are arguably playing their best football of the year (which granted isn't saying much) and the game is in MetLife, not the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field. Still, the Eagles have owned the Giants under Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz.
Prediction: Win (4-4-1)

At Cleveland Browns:
The Browns are a tough team to get a read on. Some weeks, they look great. Others, they look like the Browns. One consistent issue for the Browns, however, has been their defense. The Browns defense is allowing 29.6 points-per-game, good for 26th in the NFL. The Eagles' offense, as frustrating as it can be to watch, should be able to take advantage of a bad Browns' defense.
Prediction: Win (5-4-1)

Home vs. Seattle Seahawks:
The Eagles have never beaten Seattle with Doug Pederson and Carson Wentz. It is tough to expect that trend to stop this season. Look for plenty of tweets and comments about how the Eagles, in case you didn't hear, could have drafted D.K. Metcalf.
Prediction: Loss (5-5-1)

At Green Bay Packers:
The Packers are one of the best teams in the league and going into Lambeau Field — even without fans — is no easy task. The Eagles were able to get out of Lambeau in 2019 with a win, but this team is far worse than that 2019 team, and the Packers are even better this year than they were last year.
Prediction: Loss (5-6-1)

Home vs. New Orleans Saints:
Of all the tough games remaining on the Eagles' schedule, this one feels like the most winnable. It will be interesting to get to watch a team up-close that actually uses two-quarterbacks in an effective way, not just because they drafted one in the second round. The Saints should be on upset alert for this game.
Prediction: Loss (5-7-1)

At Arizona Cardinals:
This is a tough spot to get the Cardinals, who will be competing for a playoff spot, not just coasting to one in a bad division. The Cardinals have an explosive offense that it is tough to see the Eagles' offense keeping up with. DeAndre Hopkins vs. Darius Slay will be a good matchup of what could-have-been vs. what is for the Eagles.
Prediction: Loss (5-8-1)

At Dallas Cowboys:
The Cowboys will be competing for the No. 1 pick by the time this game comes around. This could be the week the Eagles clinch the NFC East —- in their division rival's building.
Prediction: Win (6-8-1)

Home vs. Washington:
There is a good chance the Eagles get this week to rest their starters and prepare for a home playoff game the following week.
Prediction: Win (7-8-1)

Final Record: 7-8-1
