Giants hire Eagles director of player personnel Brandon Brown as assistant GM

Big Blue has poached one of the Green: the Giants officially named Eagles co-director of player personnel Brandon Brown as their new assistant general manager.

"Brandon has a strong reputation around the league as a leader, evaluator and consensus builder," Giants GM Joe Schoen said in the team's official release. "He is a tireless worker who has experience in pro personnel and college scouting. He has a progressive approach to the evaluation process. Brandon will help lead the player personnel department as well as assist across the entire football operation."

Kevin Abrams, who had been assistant GM for the last 20 years under Dave Gettleman and previous regimes, was moved into a new role over the weekend as senior vice president of football operations and strategy, opening up the assistant GM role so that, as Abrams had said, Schoen could find a new "right-hand man."

"Kevin has been and will continue to be an invaluable resource for me and our staff," Schoen said in a statement Saturday. "In his new role, Kevin will be assisting with the day-to-day football operation, administration and strategy of the organization moving forward."

Brown, 33, also recently interviewed for the Vikings' GM job, which went to Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.

The former Fordham defensive back and 2010 Rams alum began his front office career while earning his J.D. from Barry University in Orlando, as he served as a graduate assistant for athletic compliance at Central Florida and was a pro personnel summer intern for the Jets in 2012.

Brown completed his J.D. and then joined Boston College in 2013 as a recruiting specialist, also serving as BC's assistant director of player personnel in 2014 before joining the Colts in 2015. He spent one year as a scouting assistant and one as an advance scout in Indy before heading to Philly, joining the Eagles as assistant director of pro scouting in 2017 before being promoted to director in 2019.

Brown was further promoted last year into the role of co-director of player personnel, sharing that role with college scouting director Ian Cunningham.
