Giglio: Eagles quiet trade deadline a 'failure' by Howie Roseman

The NFL trade deadline came and went, and it did not include anything from the Eagles, who didn’t make a move and will move forward with their current roster.

Joe Giglio says that is a “failure” by the team and Howie Roseman, who Joe is used to seeing make aggressive moves to put the Birds in position to make a deep run.

“The Eagles went the entire trade deadline without doing anything.
Not even picking up a backup at a position,” Joe said. “I’m not shocked, because we didn’t have one complete area of obvious need, but I’m very surprised at Howie Roseman.

“I would call yesterday a failure by him…every team in the NFL that entered yesterday at 6-2 or better, they all added. They all did something, except the Eagles. The Commanders, the direct competition in this division, added Marshon Lattimore…then I got the Eagles, and they did nothing. I consider yesterday a failure by Howie Roseman.”

The Eagles are 6-2 and looking to erase last year’s meltdown by getting back to the Super Bowl, and Joe would have liked to have seen a little more urgency in giving Philly the best chance possible to make that a reality. Instead, the Eagles stood pat, and Joe doesn’t like the attitude that such a decision permeates from the front office.

“It felt a little bit like, ‘If we don’t, we don’t. Yeah, maybe we’re pretty good right now, but if we don’t do something special this year, oh well,’” Joe said. “It was an odd trade deadline from an executive who is always aggressive.”
