Joe Giglio and Hugh Douglas released their top 10 head coaches in the National Football League throughout the 94WIP Midday Show on Tuesday. The conversation led to Giglio giving his take that Philadelphia's own Nick Sirianni is not an elite coach.
"I do not consider him yet an elite coach in the NFL. I think he needs to do more."
Joe likes what he's seen from Sirianni so far in The NFL, but doesn't think one Super Bowl appearance garners being considered top tier.
"I just started jotting down coaches that made the Super Bowl. Just making a Super Bowl doesn't make you an elite coach. No, I get it.
"Here are some guys that have made the Super Bowl: Dan Quinn, John Fox, Gary Kubiak, Jim Caldwell, Ken Whisenhunt, Lovie Smith, Bill Callahan, Mike Martz, Brian Billick, Barry Switzer. For goodness sakes."
On the other hand, Hugh says that Sirianni is elite. "I think that what he's been able to do in a very short period of time is not easy to do." He explained that what Sirianni's been able to do with a young quarterback in Jalen Hurts in the first two years as a head coach is a tough thing to accomplish.
Hugh and Joe shared their lists throughout the program with Joe putting The Eagles Head Coach at 10, while Hugh had him near the top at number two, right behind former Philadelphia coach, Andy Reid.
Sirianni is 23-11 in his first two seasons as Eagles Head Coach, that includes two playoff appearances and reaching The Super Bowl just last season.
