An in-depth article was published on Wednesday by Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer detailing the dynamics of the Eagles' power regime between head coach Doug Pederson, general manager Howie Roseman, and even owner Jeffrey Lurie.
McLane, who joined Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Thursday to discuss the story, wrote that Eagles head coach Doug Pederson did not want to fire former offensive coordinator Mike Groh and wide receiver coach Carson Walch after last season.
"One thing I wish I would have included in the story -- those 48-72 hours after the season are pretty emotional for the team especially when you exit so quickly from the playoffs," McLane said. "I'm sure that factored into Doug's reaction to what had happened. That was one of the most bizarre press conference I've ever seen. From what I was told, he was told going into that press conference not to say anything about the coaches in terms of final decisions. He went and said the direct opposite of that."
The 94WIP Midday Show's Jon Ritchie, a former Eagles fullback, had some strong comments on Wednesday about the article in regards to Pederson.
"There are factions within that building and I think the ones we are talking about here are Carson Wentz and his crew, the Philadelphia Eagles, including Howie, and Doug," Ritchie said. "I keep picturing three groups. It feels like the Eagles and Carson's side are in cahoots and they are making it known that Doug is responsible for this season. They expect things might not go quite as planned.
"If we (the Eagles) don't make the playoffs," continued Ritchie, "Doug's head is on the chopping block. I think that could be the title of that article."
