Joe DeCamara says he believes Monday night's embarrassing playoff lost to the Bucs marks the beginning of the end for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
"What we saw last night was the end of the Nick Sirianni and what we saw last night, in my opinion, is the beginning of the end of Jalen Hurts. The beginning of the end of Jalen Hurts, meaning it's going to take a couple of years because he's embarking on this new contract. So he's clearly going to be back and be the starter next year and he should be. He should be the starter next year.
"But what we saw last night is someone who I would put at serious doubt that he'll be the starting quarterback in 2026. They're going to have to muddle through a couple years. They're going to have to give it a shot with a different coaching staff. They're going to have try to turn it around with better coaching and that's all with merit, it's worth trying. But I'm just telling you I've seen a lot of pro football and I don't think he's the quarterback of the real future of the Eagles. Not the short-term, the real future. And I think Sirianni should go and I think Sirianni will go."
The Eagles gave Hurts a five-year, $255 million contract extension this past April with $180 million guaranteed following an NFC Championship and a Super Bowl trip.
However, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman have shown an ability to pivot quickly off of coaches and quarterback since the departures of Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb, moving on from head coaches like Chip Kelly and Doug Pederson and trading away starting quarterback Carson Wentz.
